Below is an overview of the main payment methods in Spain for your webshop.
Credit cards
Credit cards are also a common payment method in Spain. With a credit card, consumers shop online and pay later. Products purchased online with a credit card are insured for a minimum of 180 days against damage, loss and theft.
The Spanish market has several credit card providers, including Mastercard, VISA and American Express.
Maestro
Some online payments in Spain still go through Maestro. That will be a thing of the past from July 2023, when Maestro will be replaced by Mastercard debit cards.
Paypal
In Spain, PayPal is a popular and widely used method of online payment: as many as 39% of all payments in Spain are made via PayPal. A PayPal payment can be made from desktop, cell phone or tablet, without leaving credit card or bank details.
Because of its buyer protection, PayPal is a very popular payment method in Spain.
Apple Pay
Apple Pay is Apple's international payment service. Users who own Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or Macbook can use this mobile payment service.
Everywhere you can pay contactless with your debit card, you can now pay with Apple Pay. When you offer this payment method in your webshop, you offer your customers the opportunity to make purchases in a safe, fast and easy way.
Amazon Pay
Amazon Pay is a payment system of Amazon.com an opoulary payment method in Spain. With it, Amazon allows its users to order on external websites with a user account.
How it works. Your customer completes an order, chooses Amazon Pay in the checkout and is redirected to the payment method login screen. You receive the funds directly from Amazon.
