Pay. has successfully completed its first Wero transaction with a test merchant, an important step in our ambiton to be one of the first payment service providers in the Netherlands to include Wero in its payments portfolio.
This collaboration enables us to offer a future-proof, seamless and secure payment solution to both business owners and consumers across Europe. By adding Wero to the existing service offering, we are meeting the growing demand for a reliable European alternative to existing payment methods.
Wero is a new European payment system. In the Netherlands it will replace iDEAL starting in 2026. With Wero, you'll first be able to pay online and later also in stores. The service is already active in Belgium, Germany and France.

Consumers are better protected with WERO than with iDEAL. If a product is not delivered, a dispute can be initiated. This is the same level of protection cardholderes enjoy with payments made via the VISA or Mastercard network.
With Wero, you can do a lot more than with iDEAL and Bancontact. For example, recurring payments will soon be possible. The real advantage is that there will be a good alternative to VISA and Mastercard, because competition ensures a better price. In addition, a payment option made and managed in Europe creates extra trust for your customer.

Can I use Wero right now?
You can already activate WERO, but at the moment only some major German banks are ready for WERO. So if you are active in Germany, please enable this payment option.
At the moment we only accept merchant in Beta phase from the Business Package.
