Through Pay. you can make 2 types of refunds:

Refund of a transaction
When a refund is issued, the data as entered by the customer is used for the refund. The refund(s) is linked to the transaction in question so that you can immediately see that a particular transaction has been refunded fully REFUND or partially PARTIAL REFUND.

External Refund
In some cases it may be desirable to create a "loose refund. An external refund is not linked to a particular transaction which has the advantage that you can determine the refund amount yourself. However, you must have the IBAN number and the name of the account holder in order to make the refund.
