In 2009, Tuinmeubelshop opened its first megastore in Veenendaal. With the physical store and a 3000 m2 showroom, Tuinmeubelshop has become one of the largest suppliers of garden furniture. Since then, the company has continued to develop which has put further growth in even higher gear. As of 2011, a total of 11 megastores have opened in cities such as Den Bosch, Utrecht and Zaanstad where customers can find endless garden inspiration.

Tuinmeubelshop specializes in good quality garden furniture, but you can also find individual garden items that customers can use to put together their own garden set. "It doesn't matter if your garden is big or small. With this garden furniture many nice combinations can be created that can be expanded serially," adds Gerrit van der Garde, marketing manager at Tuinmeubelshop.

With more than 1,000 items, the garden furniture store's assortment is wide. In addition, Tuinmeubelshop also has a very diverse range of prices. Customers can find both favorably priced and exclusive garden furniture and garden items. Gerrit: "What also distinguishes us is that we launch a renewed and contemporary collection of garden furniture every year. And thanks to our megastores, we buy in bulk. This collection hits very well with our customers, also because of its exclusivity!"

High order values & spread payment with SprayPay

With its own webshop and a total of 11 megastores, there is plenty for customers to choose from. That also applies to the price-quality ratio of the products. For Tuinmeubelshop, both channels are an important source of income. Gerrit explains, "With our webshop we present our collection. Besides selling well online, our megastores form a nice showcase of the products and brand range. For interested customers, it is therefore essential to visit one of our physical stores."

At Tuinmeubelshop, such a purchase often does not have a low order value. Therefore, it was important for the garden furniture store to partner with an online payment provider that facilitates payments with high order values quickly, frictionlessly and securely. "That's right! We first worked with another party, but this did not work satisfactorily," says Gerrit. "At Tuinmeubelshop the average order amount is quite high and therefore we needed a payment partner that offers SprayPay spread payment."

In addition to offering spread payment online, Tuinmeubelshop also wants to offer the payment method offline: "This way we incorporate SprayPay perfectly into our omnichannel strategy. After all, this payment method is very customer-friendly. When the order is entered into our system, the customer immediately receives an e-mail in which the payment can be completed. After this, the order is automatically transferred. If the order cannot be completed, Pay. gives the customer the option to make the payment in another way. I find that really ideal."

In our physical stores, customers often choose to pay by card upon delivery, and in that context, SprayPay is a valuable addition to our current range of payment options. In addition to paying by card at delivery, iDEAL is a widely used payment method. For our Belgian customers, Bancontact is very popular, while in Germany, Giropay and PayPal are most commonly used to complete a purchase.

The switch to Pay.

With the move to Pay., Tuinmeubelshop was able to immediately start offering SprayPay as a payment method. Gerrit explains: “Because both parties work together perfectly, everything was very well arranged in advance.”

When asked how Tuinmeubelshop experienced the transition with Pay.’s support, Gerrit says: “The Magento 2 integration was quickly and easily implemented into our webshop. In addition, switching from one online payment provider to another was done in no time. Pay. has short lines of communication, responds quickly, and offers a clear product portfolio. We also appreciate their proactive approach and the fact that they actively think along with us about opportunities that could add value for Tuinmeubelshop.”

E-commerce growth continues, including in 2020 when the coronavirus dominated daily life. As a result, online shopping has become more intertwined with everyday life than ever before. Gerrit also recognizes this trend: “We see increasing growth online, which is why we want to focus even more on our own private label brands. And of course, we want to make our customers happy—and keep them happy—with our combinable garden sets and other Tuinmeubelshop furniture.”

In addition to focusing on online, Tuinmeubelshop is also giving significant attention to its physical stores during this period. “Last year, due to corona, people were strongly focused on (re)designing their own living environment,” says Gerrit. “At Tuinmeubelshop, we expect this trend to continue. Our customers still appreciate being able to view and test the garden furniture in person. That is why our garden specialists—while continuously and correctly adhering to the corona regulations—are ready to provide customers with inspiration, tips, and advice, even in these times.”
