WeChat Pay: from chat app to payment option.

WeChat is a semi-wallet payment method. While standard wallets require money to be deposited first, a semi-wallet enables consumers to transfer funds from other payment methods such as a bank account or credit card.

The WeChat app was released in 2011 by our contract partner Tencent. There are now millions of end users who've installed this app for online communication and to make payments.

The app

Chinese end users can link their bank account or credit card to the WeChat app. Once an end user has made a payment and the app has verified the transaction, the amount is deducted from their WeChat Pay balance. WeChat Pay transactions are included in the balance, as with other payment options.

QR payments via online shop, cash system, face-to-face or print

Once you have activated WeChat Pay, our payment option will generate a QR code that is shown on the payment screen of your cash register or online shop during the checkout process. All your customer has to do is scan the QR code to complete their transaction immediately.
